Face of Africa
A portrait a week, every Friday. One subject, one photographer, one week, rotating through the continent on a fixed cycle so no region is left out.
This week: West Africa
The first edition has not been published yet. This week’s slot is West Africa.
How the strand works
An eight-week cycle: North, West, Central, East, Southern and Island Africa, then an open week for exceptional work from anywhere, then the diaspora. Every subject is named, credited and consented; every picture says what was done to it. Frame of Africa, the companion gallery of street, landscape and documentary scenes, runs beside the portrait. The strand feeds Face of the Year at the TAMAs.
